We’re hiring: Maintenance Assistant


The Walcot Group is looking for a Maintenance Assistant. This is a broad role and, depending on experience, will assist the Maintenance Manager across the Walcot Group Sites.


Key responsibilities;

  • General repairs and maintenance:
  • Perform repairs on fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
  • Conduct minor electrical work like replacing bulbs and fuses.
  • Handle minor plumbing issues, such as clearing drains and blockages.
  • Paint and decorate areas as needed.


  • Preventative maintenance:
  • Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Identify when equipment or parts need to be upgraded or replaced.


  • Grounds and exterior maintenance:
  • Maintain the shrubbery and clearing leaves.
  • Ensure exterior areas and gutters are clean and free of debris.


  • Safety and compliance:
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with health and safety regulations.
  • Assist with fire and safety procedures when necessary.
  • Report any accidents or health and safety risks immediately.


  • Collaboration and project assistance:
  • Liaise with and assist contractors as needed.
  • Work cooperatively with your Manager and other departments to address maintenance issues promptly.
  • Assist with larger projects like refurbishments.


Required skills and experience;

  • General DIY skills, including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical knowledge.
  • Awareness of health and safety standards.
  • A "can-do" attitude and keen eye for detail.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Flexibility with working hours, as some tasks may need to be done outside of standard business hours.
