We’re hiring: Maintenance Assistant

This is a broad role and, depending on experience, will assist the Maintenance Manager across the Walcot Group Sites.

Key responsibilities;

General repairs and maintenance:
Perform repairs on fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
Conduct minor electrical work like replacing bulbs and fuses.
Handle minor plumbing issues, such as clearing drains and blockages.
Paint and decorate areas as needed.

Preventative maintenance:
Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance tasks.
Identify when equipment or parts need to be upgraded or replaced.

Grounds and exterior maintenance:
Maintain the shrubbery and clearing leaves.
Ensure exterior areas and gutters are clean and free of debris.

Safety and compliance:
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Assist with fire and safety procedures when necessary.
Report any accidents or health and safety risks immediately.

Collaboration and project assistance:
Liaise with and assist contractors as needed.
Work cooperatively with your Manager and other departments to address maintenance issues promptly.
Assist with larger projects like refurbishments.

Required skills and experience;

General DIY skills, including basic carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical knowledge.
Awareness of health and safety standards.
A "can-do" attitude and keen eye for detail.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Flexibility with working hours, as part of the Maintenance Team you'll provide flexible coverage which will include some shift work, weekends and may also include 'on call duties' as and when required.
